About CarMPG

CarMPG is a reference database of fuel-economy and specification data for more than 50,000 car, truck, SUV and van configurations sold in the United States since 1984.

Every page is built from the official U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel-economy dataset published at fueleconomy.gov. For each vehicle we show the EPA city, highway and combined MPG, the estimated annual fuel cost, engine and drivetrain details, tailpipe CO₂ emissions and, where available, the EPA greenhouse-gas score — the same figures that appear on a new vehicle's window sticker.

Why we built it

Fuel economy is one of the largest running costs of owning a vehicle, yet the official data is spread across a government database that is hard to browse. CarMPG turns that data into a clean page for every configuration, adds plain-language context (how each vehicle compares with the class average of its era), and links related model years and similar vehicles so you can compare quickly.

What we do not do

We do not sell cars, take dealer referrals, or accept payment to change the numbers. The figures are EPA estimates reproduced faithfully; where we add interpretation (for example calling a vehicle "more efficient than average"), it is derived directly from those numbers and explained on our methodology page.
